  • Mrs. Jennifer L. Harris, Chair

    Jenny Yonker Harris, class of 1996, is serving as the Chair of the Capital Campaign Steering Committee.  Jenny recently served as the President of the SCCS Association School Board.  She and her husband, Chad Harris (also class of 1996) have children at the Tinley Park and Chicago Christian campuses.  Their children are the 4th generation in their family to attend SCCS.  Jenny works part time in the family business, Homewood Disposal Services.  She also serves on the board at Elim Christian Services, and can be found frequently volunteering her time on our school campuses.  The Harrises worship at Orland Park Christian Reformed Church, where Jenny leads the GEMS Girls Club.
  • Ms. Nancy DeVries

    Nancy graduated from Chicago Christian in 1990, attending Southwest Chicago Christian Schools for twelve years.  She previously served on the SCCS Association School Board, the third generation in her family to do so.  Nancy has worked in accounting for Avalon Petroleum for more than 30 years.  She worships at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Tinley Park.
  • Mr. Henry Doorn, Jr.

    Henry, Class of 1977, recently retired as the Superintendent of Southwest Chicago Christian Schools.  He continues his work with the school on the Preparing for the Next Century Capital Campaign.  Henry previously served as the Executive Director at Barnabas Foundation, and as CFO at UBS Global Asset Management and Brinson Partners.  Henry and his wife, Karen, worship at Orland Park Christian Reformed Church.  Their children also attended Southwest Chicago Christian School, and now they are proud to have their granddaughter in the school system as well.  She is the 5th generation from the Doorn family to attend SCCS.
  • Mr. Mark Hamstra, Superintendent

    Mark Hamstra, class of 2001, began his tenure as Superintendent of Southwest Chicago Christian Schools in 2023.  He previously led Chicago Bulls College Prep High School as their principal and he  served as an officer in both the US Army and the IL National Guard.  Mark and his wife, Sandy Dryfhout Hamstra, class of 2002, have four children attending Southwest Chicago Christian Schools at the Oak Lawn and Chicago Christian campuses. 
  • Dr. Kelly A. Lenarz

    Kelly serves as the Dean of Education and is an Associate Professor of Education at Trinity Christian College.  Kelly also serves on the SCCS Philanthropy Committee.  She and her husband, Josh, have children attending both our Oak Lawn and Chicago Christian High School campuses.  The family worships at Parkview Christian Church.
  • Ms. Mary Nieves

    Mary serves as the Administrative Assistant and Database Manager for Advancement at Southwest Chicago Christian School.  She is also a volunteer treasurer for the Illiana Right to Life Committee.  She has extensive experience serving and working at Christian nonprofits in Washington DC and in the Chicagoland area since 2017.  Mary worships at First Church (PCA) in Lansing with her family.
  • Mr. Zachary Thomson

    Zak Thomson, class of 1997, is the Chief Financial Officer at Homewood Disposal Service, and he has previously served on the SCCS Association School Board and the Finance Committee. He and  his wife Lisa DeVries Thomson, Class of 1999,  have two children attending our Oak Lawn and Chicago Christian campuses.  The family worships at Hope Christian Reformed Church. 
  • Mr. Rick Van Dyken

    Rick is the Executive Vice President of Mission Advancement at Providence Life Services.  He previously served in Advancement at Trinity Christian College, and also as a missionary at Rehoboth Christian School and in Nigeria.  Rick previously served on the SCCS Association Board of Directors.  He and his wife, Sue Mels Van Dyken, class of 1979, worship at Palos Heights Christian Reformed Church.  Their children attended SCCS, and now their grandchildren attend at our Oak Lawn campus.
  • Mr. Jeffery D. Weidenaar

    Jeff is the Vice President of Sales at Silva International, Inc.  He  has previously served as President of the SCCS Board as well as various committees.  Jeff and his wife, Rachel, have three children.  Their daughter graduated from Chicago Christian in 2021, and their other two children currently attend CCHS.  The family worships at Orland Park Christian Reformed Church.

  • Mr. Henry and Mrs. Karen Doorn, Jr.

    Henry and Karen have been members of the Southwest Chicago Christian community for decades.  Henry graduated from Chicago Christian High School in 1977.  The two met at Trinity Christian College, and after graduating married and raised their family in Palos Heights.  Their four children attended SCCS and CCHS, and now their granddaughter is in the school system too.  She is the 5th generation from the Doorn family to attend SCCS.

    Karen devoted her entire career to SCCS, teaching at the elementary level and high school for 19 years!  She retired from teaching last spring.  Henry retired from SCCS last spring as well, stepping down as the Superintendent after serving for seven years.  Henry previously served as the Executive Director at Barnabas Foundation, and as CFO at UBS Global Asset Management and Brinson Partners.  Henry and Karen worship at Orland Park Christian Reformed Church.
  • Mr. Lambert H. & Mrs. Lori L. Kamp

    Bert and Lori have been lifelong members of the Southwest Chicago Christian School community.  Bert is a 1977 graduate and Lori is a 1983 graduate of Chicago Christian High School.  They have five daughters who also graduated from the SCCS system, and now they have two grandchildren who are starting at the Oak Lawn campus.

    Bert is an accountant who had his own practice, and he has recently retired.  Lori is also an accountant who worked with Bert and continues to work with her daughters at HMK Accounting. 

    Bert has served on the SCCS School Board as well as various other committees.  He uses his accounting skills as the current bookkeeper for Pass It On Thrift Center.  Bert and Lori are members of Orland Park Christian Reformed Church where they serve in various ways.

    Christian education has been a blessing to their family and they are excited to see how God will continue to use SCCS to not only bless their family, but other families as well. 
  • Rep. Tim and Mrs. Amanda Ozinga

    Tim Ozinga is State Representative in Illinois' 37th House District. Elected to Illinois’ 102nd General Assembly.  Tim and his wife, Amanda Kamp Ozinga (Class of 2005), have four girls that all attend our Tinley Park campus.  Their family worships at Calvary Church-Orland Park. 

    Tim is co-owner and Executive Vice President of Mokena-based Ozinga Bros. Inc., a fourth-generation family-owned American company specializing in ready-mix, energy, logistics, and construction materials operating in five states.

  • Mr. Tom and Mrs. Judy Yonker

    Tom and Judy are long-time supporters of Christian education.  Their support includes stewardship of their alma maters:

    • Southwest Chicago Christian School, Tom is a member of the CCHS class of 1975
    • Timothy Christian School, Judy is a member of the class of 1976
    • Calvin University where they met, graduating in 1979. 

    After graduation, Tom and Judy returned to the Chicago area and raised three children all educated through Southwest Chicago Christian Schools, Jennifer class of 1996, Kyle class of 1998 and Chad class of 2002.  The Yonkers currently have eight grandchildren attending Southwest Chicago Christian Schools, from a sophomore in high school to 1st grade at Tinley Park. Their commitment extends to giving of their time as well. serving as past school board members on the Southwest Chicago Christian School Board and Tom serving on the Roseland Christian School Board.  Tom has proudly served as a board member for Elim Christian Services.  Tom & Judy are both long time members of Orland Park Christian Reformed church.

  • Mr. Edward J. & Dr. Emily C. Zabrocki

    Ed is a long time educator, teaching high school for over 40 years, and serving as the mayor of Tinley Park from 1981 to 2015.  He served as an officer with the Chicago Metropolitan Mayor's organization and he was a member of the 89th Illinois General Assembly in 1995. 

    Emily is a Professor Emeritus of Joliet Junior College.  She previously chaired the Illinois Organization of Association Degree Nursing Directors and served as a Representative to the United Nations Council on Women's Issues in 1999.

From our Community

CCHS has been part of our family for 4 generations and continues to positively impact our lives today.  The teachers and administration have successfully provided academic excellence while integrating Christian values and core principles.  Being part of a steadfast community committed to faithful instruction has been a blessing to our children.
